About Beals Design

I have over 15 years of design experience with the last 10 focused heavily on graphic design. Being the Art Director for Connolly Printing in Rochester, NY since 2002 has allowed me to test my creativity while keeping up with the latest technology. I choose to maintain Beals Graphic Design (est 1994) as a means to stay involved with a variety of design work that may not always fall into the category of print. This affords me unlimited opportunity for professional growth, and I am very pleased to have this fulfilling career in design. I have a background in fine art, and in 1992 I received my Bachelor of Arts with a concentration in studio arts. I began my career in Syracuse, NY as an artist in set design for various theaters and quickly moved into illustration while teaching night classes in acrylic painting. When the semester ended, I also accepted a position painting billboards. Although I gained a wide range of artistic experience in those initial post-graduate years, I grew weary of the life of a starving artist. I later saw more lucrative opportunities in graphic design as computer programs became more impressive tools for print design. Upon moving to Rochester in 1994, I dove into the world of computer graphics and found that my fine art background was an invaluable tool in my success as a graphic designer. Applying my knowledge of art and design to ever-evolving graphics technology resulted in a thriving design career that I deemed both satisfying and exciting. Before long, I found myself being recruited by agencies to work on custom projects, such as bus wrap design, leading prepress work on high profile displays for companies like Disney World and The Country Music Hall of Fame, and developing print campaigns for various institutions on both a local and national level. Because of the variety of media I have worked with, I feel comfortable tackling projects that may seem daunting or unfamiliar to many designers. I am truly fortunate to have a rewarding career which includes the best of both worlds - the passion for art and the excitement of techology!
